This year on July 4th we will be enjoying Independents Day, a global celebration of independent music and labels. From the UK to New Zealand, in every time zone across the planet we'll be raising a glass to the independent labels and artists that over several decades have consistently pushed music forward, innovating and entertaining in equal measure, ID08 is a long overdue tribute to the independent spirit.
In the UK alone there will be a series of high profile events, broadcasts and limited edition releases, including a series of one off TV documentaries, dedicated radio shows and an incredible double album featuring the likes of Tom Smith from Editors, Maxïmo Park, Jack Penate, Devendra Banhart, Prodigy and José Gonzalez, all covering their favourite indie tracks.
